Golden Mayor
The economy in Golden continues to be quite healthy and the forecast for 2007 and 2008 appear rosy. The city should be able to maintain its programs that fund infrastructure repair and upgrading, improving our parks and trails, and improving the quality of our water while maintaining competitive salaries for our staff.
Recently the 2000 acre foot Guanella Reservoir was completed that will ensure adequate water for the City for many years to come. Expansion and remodeling of the community center began this year. Likewise, construction of a new shop and maintenance facility was started recently. The R-1 school district began construction of the new high school. Major private development is in progress in downtown that will provide more parking, for retail, office and residential space. About 150 residents units will be available in downtown by the end of 2007.
We expect 2007 and 2008 to be great years. Please come and see the great things that have happened in Golden in the last few years. I am certain you will enjoy your stay in Golden.
Sincerely,
Jacob Smith
